DUDE, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? (A note from Mr Quadosh)

The purpose of this note is to give a progress report on a remarkable year 2010 has been and a sneak peak of what is to come in the years ahead. Most people who have followed my work closely online in the past few years may have noticed that I’ve been quiet for a couple of months and at times removed content from my pages. I hope this note will clear up any misconception some might have but also, whet your appetite for things to come.

It was to my surprise that I woke up this morning, checked my blog, and despite the fact that I’d not updated it for quite a while, the last image I posted had gathered over three thousand(3,000+) views Surprised. This is of course the more reason for this update. The support and love I receive is quite extraordinary. The Facebook page has close to 2,000 friends despite the fact that I’d removed most of my portfolio work. I really appreciate every single one of you that has been supporting the dream from day one, kept me in your prayers, helped to promote the brand, reached out to me, encouraged me, mentioned me on your blogs, websites, radio shows, word of mouth and referrals. THANK YOU so much. Most of you didn’t have to do it and that goes to show how much you care and I do not take that lightly.

It is obvious to anyone that has come in contact with me that I’m always in pursuit of excellence and quality – what I call the *QUADOSH* factor lol, hence I’m able to produce work that is good enough to engage you. I firmly believe what I did yesterday is just not good enough for today. For that reason, I live my life daily doing my best to improve and expand my mind to see new possibilities. The truth is that in recent months, I’ve really been trying to re-establish balance in my life.  Learning when to say ‘yes’ and most importantly when to say ‘no’. John Maxwell puts it nicely when he said “Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.” Admittedly, I’d foolishly said too many ‘yes’s and completely lost control and focus of where I was supposed to be heading in life. I felt completely burned out! My sleeping pattern got messed up. Sometime in the afternoons, I find myself in front of my computer still in my pyjamas, looking battered and defeated by the workload I’d committed to(which by the way wasn’t worth the stress). The wakeup call came when I picked up my goals book and realised how much I’d drifted from the life I desired and realised that I actually didn’t have a life any more. Photography is not life, your business is not life, your work is not life, so, please don’t forget to LIVE YOUR LIFE! Focus on being a better person, a person of character and integrity - and be prepared to pay any price for that life you deserve.  It is true that we ought to grab all opportunities with both hands for we don’t know which one will make us that person we were destined to be! However, “wisdom is the principle thing...” and I’ve learnt that if you want a certain result and you’re not getting it, you’ll be insane to keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. “...therefore get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding” Proverbs 4:7

Apart from re-establishing balance, I’ve also been working on some projects I’m not allowed to disclose just yet, but I’ve also been working on some personal projects and improving myself. Sharpening my skills as an artist and focusing on being a more valuable person in the market place. I’ve set some goals for myself in life and it’s my time to go after them. The break I took from spending so much time online was well worth it and some of you reading this who can relate with me should probably consider doing something about your life. Remember that your indecision in setting goals and following them through in your life is actually a decision in itself. Moreover, if you do not define where you’re going in life, the society; the government or people will take that power from you and help you make that decision without your consent and you’ll be compelled to live by it. Whatever you do, remember to keep Philippians 4:6-7as a watchword “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”

This year has been a tremendous year for me as you can tell already. Many things have happened from the good, the bad and downright ugly but I’m thankful that I’m still here and standing tall. Stronger than ever and more fired up for the future – and that future starts right this minute. I’ve met and worked with some amazing individuals, organisations, churches, brands and couple(s) both here in the UK and abroad. Thank you for the opportunity and it’s my hope, and prayer, that our partnership goes stronger in the coming years.

I’m also privileged to mentor a few people in the creative industry both actively and passively with my little knowledge, but I’m even more so privileged to be inspired and challenged by many more that have gone ahead of me and paved the way. Mentors, photographers, designers, artists etc Thomas Jefferson once said "He who knows best knows how little he knows" and I think that is probably one of the most profound truths EVER. I'LL BE A STUDENT FOR LIFE! I definitely won’t see or know most of what I do now without your influence in my life. Thank you.

And to you, yes, you! :) thanks for stopping by and taking your time to read this note. I’d love to hear from you, so leave a comment. Especially if there was anything I touched on that you relate with or if there's anything about the image above that strikes you.

2010 is quickly slipping away. I press forward, not dwelling on the successes or failures of the past, rather look forward to the greatness ahead. Keep your eyes peeled for many things to come in the months and years ahead - the projects, the websites etc In fact, bookmark this page. I'm going somewhere and I'll like you to come on the journey with me.

Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year!
